When families get together to celebrate a special occasion, there’s a danger that all hell will break loose. Particularly if you happen to be trapped for several days with all your relatives and copious amounts of alcohol…

Neville and Belinda are hosting their extended family over a long weekend. The presence of two tyrannical uncles – Bernard, whose ham-fisted annual puppet shows are a source of dread to young and old alike, and TV addict Harvey – promises to stir up trouble from the start. And that’s before you add to the mix broken toys, creaking marriages and guest novelist Clive, whose relationship with Belinda’s sister Rachel is going nowhere, causing him to look for love elsewhere.

About Us

Stretton Players is the local drama group in Church Stretton. Our first production was in 1931. We usually put on two productions each year in May and November. In addition we hold play readings, workshops, theatre visits and social events throughout the year.

We are always looking for new members who wish to get involved either on or off the stage. We are particularly interested in encouraging younger people to become involved in acting!

You don’t have to be an expert…Enthusiasm, commitment, time, and ordinary everyday skills are enough to get you started. Everyone has a hidden talent, so come to us to find it! A desire to learn and share knowledge will be useful in any section of the theatre.

Besides acting and production, there are always jobs to do both…

backstage… lighting, sound, set design and building, stage management, props, wardrobe, etc.,

and

offstage… ticketing, front of house, events, publicity, etc.

Membership costs only £15 per year!
